Salesforce Spring ‘21 Highlights: What’s new in Marketing Cloud?

Marketing Cloud’s Spring ‘21 updates is packed with improved capabilities geared towards better account management and tools which are detrimental to campaigns with updates regarding browser experience.

SELF-SERVE SSL CERTIFICATES FOR CUSTOM DOMAINS

In the previous version, the Marketing Cloud process for equipping SSL certificates took around 4 to 6 weeks to secure the domain. The new self-serve SSL lets you secure custom domains faster.

Check out these steps:

  1. Go to SETUP, then search for and select CUSTOM DOMAINS.

  2. Click the action arrow next to Domain, then select SECURE THIS DOMAIN.

UPDATE YOUR SSO SETTINGS WITH A NEW MARKETING CLOUD CERTIFICATE

Marketing Cloud’s existing single sign-on (SSO) certificate expires on February 18, 2021. Updating the identity provider with the new certificate would be required for users with the SP-initiated URL or those whose identity provider is configured to send encrypted assertions. You may need to update your certificate by February 18, 2021 to ensure that Marketing Cloud’s SSO functionality continues to work on your end.

BRING ENCRYPTION KEYS FROM YOUR SYSTEM TO MARKETING CLOUD

Marketing Cloud Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) offering is now available to all Marketing Cloud customers using Data at Rest Encryption for a Dedicated Data Environment! Users can generate their own RSA2048 encryption key for encryption at rest in the dedicated database for your Marketing Cloud account. This enhanced security feature promotes a better and safer encryption implementation. This key takes the place of keys otherwise generated by Marketing Cloud. You may import, rotate, and revoke your key depending on your security and business needs.

Revoking an active key also cancels access to any data in the database, as it’s going to stay offline when the key is not accessible. Users will have to provide the same encryption key after cancellation to bring the database back online.

Sending continues to be restricted if an account moves from suspended to expired. Restrictions are to be lifted if an account moves from suspended to active. Customer action will be required in order to reactivate sending, which includes journeys, automations, and triggered sends.

INTERACTION STUDIO: REAL TIME SEGMENT TRIGGERS FOR JOURNEY BUILDER

This feature allows users to create segments in real time based on customer behavior and visitors take on a website, with an email, on the mobile app, and more. Activate these segments in Journey Builder to present real-time, and one-to-one content based on affinities.
